Leona Lewis Makes her Debstep Debut
» Posted On: February 22nd, 2011 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles » With: No Comments
LEONA LEWIS is ditching power ballads and dry ice in favour of lasers and stomachchurning basslines as she tries to re-invent herself for her third album.
In a new chapter of her pop career the Hackney singer has decided to embrace dubstep. Somebody pass the poppers.
Recently Leona has been doing her best to shake off her dull image with a few eyecatching outfits in LA.
It’s still a long way from LADY GAGA on the fashion front, but the music sounds like a huge change of direction.
A source said: “SIMON COWELL‘s Syco team have asked songwriters to hand them dubstep and dance tracks with traditional lyrics for the X Factor winner.
“And they’ve specifically stated no ballads. It’s a big change for her.”
In the UK Leona’s previous album, Echo, shifted less than a third of the copies of her debut, Spirit, while the second single, I Got You, reached only No14.
So you can’t blame her for wanting credible beats to sing over. But it’s going to take a lot to convince the public to swallow the diva belting out rave anthems.
Leona’s definitely one for the two-feet firmly planted while crying out a love song routine.
Her team will need to hire a crack team of choreographers, too. Every time I’ve seen her it’s been like she had lead boots on.

LEWIS’ PONY BIRTHDAY GIFT
» Posted On: April 7th, 2009 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles » With: No Comments
According to Contact Music, Leona’s friends got together and sponsored a pony for Leona. Leona loves animals and esp. horses, so whenever Leona visits LA – she can spend time with her very own horse. How amazing is that?
LEONA LEWIS’ friends indulged the star’s love of horses for her birthday – with pals reportedly teaming together to buy her sponsorship of her own pony.
The singer, a well-known animal lover, turned 24 on Friday (03Apr09) and although she has wanted to throw herself into the equestrian world since she was a little girl, her hectic schedule means she is unable to care for a horse full time.
So Lewis’ pals opted to buy her the next best thing – a sponsorship certificate for an animal in Los Angeles.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, “Leona is besotted with horses. It’s a bit pricey to splash out on one of her own, so they (her friends) donated money to sponsor one for her in L.A. She was overwhelmed by everyone’s efforts.”

Leona Lewis – Better In Time
» Posted On: February 1st, 2009 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles » With: 2 Comments
Here is a new article on Leona Lewis about her recent Brit Awards nomination. I think this article is very lovely and its def. a great read! Check it out below :
LEONA LEWIS never likes to let herself down by making a fuss. Mostly she’s uncomplaining, and if something upsets her she rarely confronts it.
She seems to put all of her emotion into her singing. Which is why, when she is performing, she reaches far inside of herself and pulls out every emotion she’s ever had. And that is what touches so many.
This is a woman who has been number one in 35 countries. ‘Bleeding Love’ sold more than three million digital downloads in the US alone, contributing to it becoming the biggest-selling single of the 21st century by a female artist. She has performed at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebrations. She has sung with Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Rihanna on the ‘Just Stand Up to Cancer’ track. She represented Great Britain, along with David Beckham, to sing at the Olympics handover ceremony in Beijing.

Wow! Yet another award for our Princess Leona! Today, Leona Lewis was named Artist Of The Year from Billboard, due to her unprecedented success on the Billboard album & singles charts. CONGRATULATIONS LEONA!!!
Leona Lewis has been named Billboard’s top new artist of the year, determined by performance on Billboard’s albums and singles charts.
The X-Factor winner and Simon Cowell protégé’s latest single, a cover of Snow Patrol’s “Run” (see music video below), has gone straight to the top of the singles chart, becoming the fastest-selling download in British chart history, with 133,000 copies.
It was only in March that Lewis became the first British female to top the U.S. charts in over 20 years with her hit single “Bleeding Love.”
Last week, the Brit beauty nabbed three Grammy nominations, including Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Bleeding Love,” while her debut album Spirit received a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
With her powerful vocals, Lewis is often compared to contemporary greats like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
“It’s quite scary,” she recently said of the comparisons. “It’s a massive compliment. Personally I’ve got a lot of hard work to do.”

Leona Interview With BBC News
» Posted On: November 11th, 2008 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles » With: No Comments
BBC News just released a brand new article on Leona titled Leona rounds off an amazing year – and by the title, you can tell this is pretty good. Read On :
Listeners to Radio 1, however, discovered Lewis’s secret a few months before, when she visited the station’s “live lounge” to perform a cover of Snow Patrol’s lighters-aloft anthem, Run.
Backed by a 14-piece band, the singer’s slow-burning performance suddenly burst into a planet-sized, full colour crescendo.
“People did cry,” wrote DJ Jo Whiley on her blog afterwards.
Lewis herself seems to have been impressed – recording a new studio version of the song for a special edition of her million-selling debut album, Spirit.
But, she admits, it can be a tricky number to perform live.
“You have to pull it back at the beginning, because at the end it goes crazy,” she laughs.
“It’s really hard to do that. You just have to control it.”
Vocal control is the one thing that sets Lewis apart from her peers, who flit around melodies like butterflies, afraid to land on a note for anything longer than a semiquaver.
But despite her stage school background – she attended Italia Conti, Sylvia Young and the Brits school – Lewis maintains that her style is 99% intuition.
“I just sing how I feel it,” she says. “If I feel like the song needs a bit of colour, I’ll do that.”

Leona Interview With Channel 4 Music
» Posted On: November 3rd, 2008 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles, interviews » With: No Comments
Our Leona recently sat down with Channel 4 Music for a interview. I really liked this interview – Leona gets asked some questions that are very interesting. Check it out:
A pleasant Chat………
“Boris Johnson was there”
It’s been an incredible two years since Leona Lewis was the best thing on the X Factor that they’re ever likely to have.
Since then she’s sold millions of copies of ‘Bleeding Love’ and her album ‘Spirit’, and now she has a new single called ‘Forgive Me’ that’s been written and produced by the R&B royalty that is Akon.
Basically she’s too good for the likes of us, which is why we were bowled over when, one day last week, she called us up for a chat about the weather, tramps and very big shops…
Hello Leona. We didn’t get much warning we were going to be speaking to you today. Did you just wake up and think, “I’d like to talk to a website”?
Yeah, I get that urge every now and then.
Well we’re glad you did. How are you anyway, are you coping with the cold weather?
Not very well. I like it cold, when there’s a blue sky but when it’s grey and rainy it’s not nice.
It’s definitely hat weather. Are you a hat person?
I love hats. I’ve got one on today that’s inspired by my granddad; it’s a flatcap kind of thing. They’ve got those massive tea-cosy hats in H&M now, they’re quite cool.

Leona: Obama can help Broken Britain
» Posted On: November 2nd, 2008 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles » With: No Comments
POP superstar LEONA LEWIS believes Barack Obama has the X Factor to fix Broken Britain if he wins the US election tomorrow.
The Hackney-born singer, 23, was surrounded by gang violence as she grew up on an East London estate.
And she has watched the behaviour of youngsters in the area plummet to new lows recently.
A year ago she was heartbroken when pal Etem Celebi, 17, was shot dead just streets from where she grew up.
But the talent show champ — who, like presidential hopeful Obama, is of mixed race — believes the Democrat could help get British youngsters from ethnic minorities off the streets if he is handed the keys to the White House.
Leona says: “I just don’t know what’s going on with the young kids in London now. I think Barack Obama could inspire young ethnic minorities in the UK to do something productive and show it’s not cool to do nothing with your life.

» Posted On: October 20th, 2008 » Posted By: Anthony » Filed Under: articles, interviews, photos » With: No Comments
Hey guys! I just found this new and very awesome interview that our Leona did with Times Online. In the interview, Leona discusses everything from her new worldwide fame, to her appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show to being on The X-Factor back in 2006. The interview also comes with an insanely beautiful new photoshoot done by photographer Jude Edington. Check it out!
“Mum really loves animals,” she continues, “especially horses, and I definitely got that from her. I ride all the time, and would love to have my own horse one day [she speaks as if still on a waitress’s wage]. Also from her, my self-belief ’cos she’s very like, ‘If you want to do something, then just do it and give it your all.’” And from her father? “Ambition. You know, ‘Set your goals high ’cos all of it is possible.’ That’s very much how I am, too. And from Dad, strength also. He’s someone you can always rely on to be there for you. I’m very much like that with the people who matter to me, there for them whenever they need me.”
