Michael Jackson was and forever will be one of the greatest influences in music. I don’t know a single person who was not moved in some way by him. I remember him being such an inspiration to me and my family growing up. We’d always have MJ playing or be watching his videos or copying his dance moves. It is a great loss to music and my prayers go out to the Jackson family. Thank you for the music Michael you will live on in our hearts forever.

Hi everybody,
I hope you’re all really good and didn’t get too snowed in?! My mum was telling me about all the snow in London recently. I couldn’t believe it and wish I could have been there to throw snowballs with everyone!
I’m in LA at the moment starting work on my new album, which is really exciting. I also attended the Grammies which was just great. It’s so nice to get all dressed up for a big event, though I still get totally star-struck!!
I’ll write a longer message soon but I really just wanted to say a big thank you for all the time and effort you’ve been putting into voting for ‘Better In Time’ at the Brit Awards. I’ve been keeping track of voting from here and am always really excited to hear I’ve got through to the next round. You’re so good to me, so I want to say a special thank you with all my heart.
I also hear there’s a bit of contest on to see who can do the most promoting for me on their MySpace / Bebo / Facebook pages. I’m looking forward to seeing some of that and shouting out to some people from this blog very soon!

Hi everyone
Firstly I want to start by saying how blown away I am by all of your support in making the album number 1. Thank you so much, this year has been absolutely incredible and I couldn’t have done it without all of you.
I also recently received an Urban Music Award, World Music Award and a Bambi Award in Germany, which is exciting especially since I’m a new artist. Big thanks to all of you that voted, I really appreciate you taking the time to do so.
I shot a video for ‘Run’ in South Africa, which was such an awesome experience. We filmed in a beautiful forest, the scenery was truly spectacular and I got to work with one of my favourite directors, Jake Nava.
I performed on the X Factor again which is always a nerve-wracking experience but I was a little less scared this time round! I really enjoy performing ‘Run’, I just get lost in it, the lyrics and melody take you on a real journey and those are my favourite kind of songs.
Lastly I want to let you know that ‘Run’ is now released as a single on iTunes. I’m so glad that it has connected with people in a powerful way as it has with me.

Hi,
It’s been such a fantastic month and I wanted to share it with you all!
First I performed ‘Better in time’ on Good morning America, I always enjoy singing on that show, such a great team working there.
I sang on Regis and Kelly - who are just so sweet, Jay Leno - one of my fave late shows he’s such a genuine nice guy, and the wonderful Ellen who I adore!
I got the chance meet and perform with some of the most inspiring and powerful female artists in music today. We all came together for ‘Stand Up To Cancer’, an amazing cause which is furthering cancer research and as you may know this is a cause that is close to my heart so I hope you will please help in some way, as always theres links on my site to these organisations.
We had 3 days of rehearsals around a grand piano together, what a surreal experience, and I enjoyed every second!
I met Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Ashanti and Carrie Underwood, what an honour, they were all so nice. I spoke to Beyonce, who is such a lovely, beautiful and talented lady. I watched her perform at fashion rocks and she was so stunning. I also saw Natasha Bedingfield, Miley Cyrus, Rhianna and Ciara, such fab girls! So admirable and talented! To perform with them all was like a dream and I will always remember that moment.
Then as I was on my way from NYC to LA and I got a call from Lil’ Wayne’s team asking if I would sing on one of his tracks originally sampled from Nina Simone! Of course I was so flattered that they wanted me to do it but it was such short notice and I had no rehearsals( and I am a preparation freak lol!) so I was really worried! Anyway I decided it was too big an opportunity to miss so I met Lil Wayne, who was brimming with southern hospitality and was an absolute gentleman, and we performed together the next day. I really enjoyed doing the song because it was a style I hadn’t been involved in before and I love Nina Simone.
So finally I travelled to Canada, where I did some TV and radio interviews. I can’t believe how lovely and welcoming Canadian people are, so it is now among my fave places I’ve visited! I had one radio interview with Hammer from Z103 who I’d like to thank as he had taken the time to put sound bites from my X factor performances into our interview, which was so creative and thoughtful, it brought a tear to my eye and took me right back down memory lane!
So I’m super happy to be back in London now, I actually missed the rain believe it or not! And I’m so excited because ‘Forgive Me’ is being played on the radio and the video is finally out. I’m really proud of it as I’ve had so much input into the video and it’s a real creative journey for me.

Leona Lewis & Jimmy Page LIVE At Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony

Here is the video of Leona Lewis and Led Zepplin Guitarist Jimmy Page live at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing Ceremony. Leona performed Whole Lotta Love at the ceremony which passed on from Beijing to England which is where the 2012 Olympics will be held. This is such a huge honor for Leona and our Queen ROCKED OUT! Soccer star David Beckham also joined close to the end.
She looked flawless as well. The whole performance gave me major goosebumps! Listen to her last note - it was PERFECTION! We’re so proud of you Leona!

Jul 27 2008 - Writing from Japan
Hey Everyone,


So I’m in Japan at the moment to do some interviews and shows. The first thing I did was become a Goodwill Ambassador for UK-Japan 2008. On my first trip here a few months ago I knew I felt a strong connection and had such a fab time so I was honoured when they asked me to be an Ambassador!
There was a ceremony and I was given a certificate to make it official. I think the UK and Japan have so much talent and this is a great way to support each other in music, design and so many other creative industries.


The past few days I’ve been doing some radio and mag interviews and I’ve been quite unwell with tonsillitis which is a bit rubbish, but they bring little gifts and flowers here its so kind and made me feel better grin
.Everybody here is so respectful and nice I really enjoy my time in Japan.


I was walking around Tokyo the other day and saw the cutest little puppy that kept looking at me and wanting to play. I wanted to take him with me so much that Lou had to drag me away! I also went shopping in Harajuku and got a nice lace top and shirt, the fashion is brill there!


I’m doing my first performance at MTV Asia awards soon and I’m really excited but quite nervous as well! I’m going to Malaysia for the show, I’ve never been there and I feel so lucky to be traveling to so many places all for my music.


Well I best be off now I’m in my hotel watching the most awesome thunder and lightning storm over Tokyo. Its a beautiful city and I still have lots more to explore!

Jun 19 2008 - Back in the UK!
Hey Everyone,
Sorry I haven’t written for a while - have been busy catching up on sleep and washing since being back in the UK!
Since I got back to the UK I’ve also been doing some photo shoots and visiting Europe - Germany and France to name a few! It’s been great being home and getting to Europe again, I’ve really enjoyed performing over there and meeting everyone!
Just before I left the US I did a couple of live radio shows in Philadelphia and Boston - I performed with my band which is always so exciting. I’ve attached a photo of a group of fans who came to see me in Philly and have been so supportive out in the US! Thanks guys!
Not long now until the Nelson Mandela concert in London which I’m so happy to be performing at, its in aid of such a great cause (www.46664.com) please support and of course Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday!

Hey guys! Leona has just blogged on her official myspace. Friday, May 09, 2008Writing from Japan!Hey Everyone,The last two weeks have been a whirlwind. I’ve been lucky enough to visit two countries I’ve never been to before and never imagined that I would!I headed to Australia straight from LA - it was so beautiful flying in and looking out of the plane window, what a stunning country.I spent about a week there, it was really incredible, I went to the MTV Awards and presented an award with Brian McFadden -he was good fun. I also performed a live event for fans and media, sang on the live final of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ (the dancers are so talented!) and also Sunrise (an early morning TV show)! It was super-busy but I got to perform for a lot of people and take my music to the world, which has always been my biggest dream!I got to do a bit of sightseeing - I saw the famous bats in the Botanical Gardens (there are literally hundreds and they are SO big!), I did a ferry trip across from Circular Quay harbour (where the Opera House and Harbour Bridge are!) and went for a walk and dinner at Bondi. Lou was with me so it was nice to experience it together.I can’t wait to go back to Australia and spend more time there. I only experienced Sydney on this visit but I hear the rest of the country is simply incredible!I then flew onto Tokyo in Japan, which is where I’m currently writing!I absolutely love it here- the people are so gracious and lovely. I’ve so enjoyed looking around and the shopping (especially in Shibuya & Harajuku!)I’ve been fortunate enough to perform on some music shows here, Music Fair, Music Station and a breakfast TV called Mezamasshi, they were all incredible fun. I had a translator who came to all the shows with me called Hitomi, she was amazing and even taught me some Japanese words - Arigato!!!I did a showcase in Tokyo where I performed 4 tracks - the night before there was an earthquake so we were all woken up by it at like 2am! We are staying in the tallest building in Tokyo and you could really feel it swaying! The following day there was another tremor while I was performing! Yikes!!!I’ve had the most amazing experiences in these countries and I’m so excited about coming back and visiting more in the future, the support I have received is so overwhelming and I am so grateful and thankful to everyone who has made this trip so enjoyable.So I now head back to LA to shoot my video for ‘Forgive Me’ - I’m not going to tell you the idea behind it, as I want it to be surprise, I’m super excited!LuvLeona-x-

Hey guys! Leona Lewis posted a new blog on the official site and here’s what she had to say : Apr 16 2008 - Hello from LA!So I’ve been back in LA this week and the sun is shining - big climate change to NYC!Before I left NYC on my last day there I got to appear on the Tyra Banks show - which you guys will get to see on April 17th. It was so much fun to do and I enjoyed myself loads. I have watched Tyra for years on so many of her shows, so it was unreal to finally meet her and be able to perform on her show. My friends also came over to see me from the UK so they sat in the audience - was so nice to have their support there and to be able to share this experience.I also performed on Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel last week which was great - at Kimmel I got to meet loads of fans on outside the studio which was such a highlight for me - thanks all of you for taking the time to say hi.I had a night off in LA so I went to see the Lakers / Clippers game. I’ve never been to a basketball match before so it was a real experience. I loved the game and the cheerleaders and the whole vibe - it was such a fun night I definitely want to go again. I got pretty into it and bought some memorabilia!I have a bit of time off for a few days now but got the most amazing news yesterday - I get to perform on American Idol on April 23rd! I am so excited (and nervous!) as it’ll be strange performing in front of judges again but I love the show and can’t wait to get up there and sing! Hopefully you guys will all tune in!LuvLeona-x-
