LEONA LEWIS is ditching power ballads and dry ice in favour of lasers and stomachchurning basslines as she tries to re-invent herself for her third album.
In a new chapter of her pop career the Hackney singer has decided to embrace dubstep. Somebody pass the poppers.
Recently Leona has been doing her best to shake off her dull image with a few eyecatching outfits in LA.
Itβs still a long way from LADY GAGA on the fashion front, but the music sounds like a huge change of direction.
A source said: βSIMON COWELLβs Syco team have asked songwriters to hand them dubstep and dance tracks with traditional lyrics for the X Factor winner.
βAnd theyβve specifically stated no ballads. Itβs a big change for her.β
In the UK Leonaβs previous album, Echo, shifted less than a third of the copies of her debut, Spirit, while the second single, I Got You, reached only No14.
So you canβt blame her for wanting credible beats to sing over. But itβs going to take a lot to convince the public to swallow the diva belting out rave anthems.
Leonaβs definitely one for the two-feet firmly planted while crying out a love song routine.
Her team will need to hire a crack team of choreographers, too. Every time Iβve seen her itβs been like she had lead boots on.
